KG Suresh Felicitated in Dehra Dun

                                                                                                                                                   

KG Suresh , Senior Journalist and  Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication , JNU , New Delhi  was felicitated by Shri GC Juyal , veteran journalist , political commentator and Founder President Marshall School Society, here today. KG Suresh, who has recently been given the charge of Director General Indian Institute of Mass Communication by the Narendra Modi Government. A distinguished journalist having worked with Press Trust of India,Consulting editor with the Doordarshan, ZEE News, Pioneer and other eminent publications, has more than three decades of Journalisim. He had been a guest faculty with the Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, Bhopal and the Indian institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. The Programme was organized by Marshall School, Dehra Dun, India Media Centre, Uttarakhand  Chapter, and PRSI, Dehra Dun. Making a brief  opening address, GC Juyal spoke on the importance of Media in Good Governance. He lamented the fact that today, the present political dispensation at the centre and elsewhere is questioning the contribution made by the Congress Leaders like Indira Gandhi, JawaharLal Nehru and others. He further stressed on the need of media highlighting the positive side of the successive governments. KG Suresh, who was the key note speaker on the topic’Role of media in good governance’ spoke at length. Kg suresh shared with the august gathering his varied experiences as a journalist for the last three decades. He informed the audience about his close links with Uttarakhand, in particular Almora, wherein his forefathers last rites were done. He promised to open a centre of Indian Institute of Media centre in Uttarakhand, If the government of Uttarakhand sends a proposal to the Union Government.

Before, Rajnish Jayal, advocate, Secretary, India Media Centre, Uttarakhand chapter introduced KG Suresh to the august gathering. Speaking on the topic, RajnishJayal highlighted the ill effects of wrong reporting by a section of the media during the Kedarnath Tragedy and the recent forest fires in Uttarakhand. He further said that on account of wrong reporting by print, electronic and social media about forest fires there was a shortfall in number of tourists visiting Uttarakhand.  RajnishJayal also informed the august gathering about the checks and balances made in the Indian Constitution on Libel, Slander, Defamation and Criminal Defamation.

The Seminar was also addressed by Shri Ashok Kumar, IPS,  Addl Director General of Police, Intelligence, Uttarakhand, who appreciated the initiative taken by the Uttarakhand Chapter of IMC New DeLhi, ShriAnoopNautiyal, and Senior Journalist SishirPrashant. A large number of Dehra Dun intelligentsia took part in the Seminar.

 

                          

Marshall School Dehra Dun living up to its traditions arranged a number of toys, blankets, school bags, stationery and sports goods for the school children affected by the devastating Himalayan Tsunami that struch Kedarnath Valley,  on the night of 15th and 17th June 2013.  As part of the schools social responsibility, Marshall School Junior and Senior School Children and teachers arranged these items. The said relief material was received by Mr Rajan in the benign presence of Colonel Arun Mamgain(Retd), Ex Commandent of RIMC, Dehra Dun, who is currently heading the prestigious TATA Group,  TATA UTTARAKHAND Programme launched  by the TATA Group to reach out to the community in Uttarakhand after the devastating floods of 16TH AND 17TH June that destroyed vast areas of the Kedarnath Valley and the villages in the Rudarprayag District and Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. Living upto its name the TATA Group has made a number of Pre Fabricated houses, Community centres and has launched skill development programme in the Rudarprayag and Kedarnath Villages.

 

 On this occasion a power point presentation was also arranged for the senior Marshall school Children, wherein Colonel Arun Mamgain(Retd) gave a talk on the relief work done by the TATA’s .  Also present on the  occasion were GC Juyal Founder & President Marshall School, Rajnish Jayal, Member and Advocate, Marshall School, Mrs Jyoti Oli, Ratnish Jayal, Director Adminstration, Dr AK Bakshi, Headmaster, C Ali,  social activist K Sriniwas Rao,Mr Rajan, Board Teachers of other School and Marshall School Teachers. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rajnish Jayal promised Mr Rajan and Colonel Arun Mamgain to arrange more relief material in the coming months. The said relief material would be distributed to children in the villages of the Kedarnath Valley.

Marshall School boarders called upon Colonel Arun Mamgain , Ex-Commandent,RIMC,Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, who is heading Tata Company sponsored project in Rudraprayag and Kedarnath Villages. 

Marshall School Children delegation was headed by Aditya Burman, Harshit Tomar, Aman Kumar and Others, Colonel Mamgain showed the delegation the ongoing relief work undertaken by the Tatas in rebuilding Kedarnath villages. He called upon the school children to contribute physically and financially for the cause of poor children in Kedarnath and Rudarprayag villages. Marshall School children presented around 5000 (five thousand ) books for school adopted by Tata's. The delegation also compromised of Mr. Rajnish Jayal, advocate & member of Marshall School Society & Mr. C. Ali , Senior teacher. Mr. Jayal promised Colonel Mamgain of more help in the form of books, Computers, furniture and sports goods. He further assured col. Mamgain of arranging funds for poor children and old people of the Kedarnath valley. Mr. Jayal appreciated the good work done by Col Arun Mamgain in the Kedarnath Valley and Rudarprayag.
